Jana and Rafi’s Mexican Inspired Fall Wedding

Music, drinks, design, and COLOR! We’re starting off our blog with a post that celebrates all the intricate beauty of a Mexican-inspired wedding. This wedding will give you all those delightful Mexico-vibes! Combined with modern elements, it is truly a unique celebration of love.

Our couple has friends and family all over the world, and are avid travellers themselves. Our bride, Jana fell in love with how Mexicans love to celebrate and how they do it with so much color, beauty and traditions. So when the decision came to where they wanted to get married, Mexico was the obvious choice! Her love of art and culture inspired the choice of colors of her veil and the floral design. Captured by Photographer Martin Muriel, the couple worked closely with wedding planner Karla Orozco and to a create a vibrant wedding filled with art-inspired touches and charm.

Their celebration was enhanced with Mexican touches such as mariachis, mojigangas (more on that below!), beautiful talavera, terracotta and crystal place settings.

Being the national flower and native to Mexico, the dahlia was the obvious choice for the floral inspiration. In season, we made the most of this vibrant and textural bloom and it became the grounding element for all the floral arrangements.

A Mexican-Inspired Wedding in San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende, the quintessential picturesque town nestled in the heart of Mexico, is renowned for its vibrant culture, breathtaking scenery, incredible wedding venues, food, people and literally everything else, making it an ideal destination for a Mexican-inspired wedding. With its rich Mexican heritage, colorful decorations, and traditional elements, this charming town provides the perfect backdrop for a wedding celebration that is both authentic and unforgettable. And we’re no strangers to styling weddings here. We’ve worked with countless couples who have chosen to get married in San Miguel de Allende, and we’re sharing just one of our favorites with you here today

There were mariachis, mojigangas, talavera dishes and the most beautiful flowers in shades of yellows, blues, reds, oranges…

A Mexican-inspired wedding wouldn’t be complete without incorporating some traditional Mexican wedding traditions. They can be extremely elaborate or very subtle, as was the case with this lovely couple. One of the most cherished rituals is the exchange of gold coins, known as “arras,” symbolizing the groom’s commitment to support the bride. This act is a beautiful example of faith and unity, often performed during a Roman Catholic wedding ceremony or nowadays more of symbolic exchange than a religious one.

Bridal Attire and Bridal Party

The bridal gown was the centerpiece of the wedding day, and like in any true Mexican-inspired wedding the dress incorporated traditional elements such as intricate lacework and vibrant embroidery. Bridesmaid dresses complemented the theme with bright colors, patterns and floral bouquets.

Place Setting with Mexican Flowers and Bright Colors

Jana and Rafi knew that the way to a memorable destination wedding was having styling and organisation on the ground, and Karla Orozco had them more than covered, making sure that every guest’s experience was considered, adding personal touches that gave each guest a special place in the wedding.

Table Setting with Mexican Flowers

The couple chose Photographer Martin Muriel, whose bright, crisp and natural photography they fell in love with when looking for local photographers in Mexico. From these gorgeous frames we would be inclined to agree! Each photo is an expression of love, joy and happiness. Ah, amor!

The reception is where the celebration truly came to life. A mariachi band set the tone with lively music, creating an atmosphere of joy and festivity. Mojigangas, large oversized paper puppets got the crowd engaged and having fun, warming up to the festivities into the evening.

The menu included traditional Mexican cuisine, including spicy rice, mole, tacos, aguas frescas, and a traditional wedding cake and Mexican wedding cookies for dessert.
